Psalm 19:7-11 KJV
[7] The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. [8] The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. [9] The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. [10] More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. [11] Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
We have been dealing with these verses frequently at our church. Verse 7 has really been a focus, "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul:" When we are witnessing it's not our job to convert or convict others. That is what the law was given for. It is an amazing toll.
Galatians 3:24 KJV
[24] Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
We aren't under the law and it's not something that binds us, but without it, we would have never know what sin is and therefor would have never been able to experience God's grace.
We actually sing a son for verses 7-10, so I'm really familiar with them, but verse 11 also caught my eye, "Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward." Not only does the law convict and show us what is wrong but there is a reward for following these commands. That's pretty awesome in my mind, and even just not feeling guilty for doing wrong and knowing I was doing right seems like a pretty nice reward!
May we strive to be a good example to the lost by keeping Gods commandments (remembering they are all summed up in two simple one-Matt. 22:37-39). And also that it's not our job to convict someone or save them, that's all up to God, and the law is one of the ways God does that!
